'Anam Cara' was inspired by the beautiful bracken I found at Sancreed Beacon, an ancient moorland I discovered, whilst out walking along the Cornish coastal paths on my quest to unveil some of Cornwall's ancient history.

The area is completely surrounded in beautiful curly bracken, one of the commonest forms of fern. 

When I visited in June, the bracken fronds were just beginning to unfurl, revealing their gorgeous whispy leaves in the most beautiful heart shape. On first glance all I could see was a hill of hearts. As you can imagine....I fell totally in love with them!

As I sat and doodled in my journal, I just knew they had to be included as one of my designs...

Why Anam Cara I hear you ask? Well, this is a little nod to our Celtic ancestors who would have walked along the same path before me....

Anam Cara is a phrase that refers to the Celtic concept of the "soul friend"
