This design is one of the largest in my collection and was inspired by a gorgeous unassuming little wildflower that softly layered the coastal cliff tops near Tintagel, Cornwall.
The carpet of richness reminded me of a beautifully slow-stitched medieval tapestry made up of hundreds of stars, all nestling together like a starry sky.
The wildflower is known as Buck's Horn Plantain which I had never come across before and it was amazing to see!
When I sat down with my notebook to capture their beauty and doodle their star shape I noticed each little star had oodles of hearts nestling on each spoke. As you can imagine, I fell in love with the romance of them immediately and knew I wanted them in my collection!
I've called the design Guinevere's Star simply to share my link with my visit to Tintagel Castle.
It is well-known for its ancient tales of myth and mystery connected to King Arthur and his wife Guinevere, the legendary Queen of Britain dating back as far as 11th century.
I wonder if she ever wore a brooch on her cloak in a similar shape to my design or perhaps a bone hairclip for her curls? Now wouldn't that be a beautiful connection!
